Troubleshooting / Frequently Asked Questions

Which plugin do i need?
The 3D model of the TU Delft Campus was created using Virtools. More information on Virtools and the Virtools plugin can be found on http://player.virtools.com.

The 3D model is very slow
The 3D model is quite heavy for your computer and graphics card to calculate. It's possible your computer doesn't have the capacity (performeance) required for a smooth display. We're trying to keep the requirements as low as possible by optimizing the model, but we can't guarantee it runs smoothly on every computer. We tested it on a AMD XP 1800+ with GeForce2 graphics card and a Intel Celeron-D with onboard graphics. If you have a similar or better computer, the model should run reasonably well.

I don't see the 3D model
Go to this page and check whether the Virtools Plugin is functioning properly. In case the plugin works on that page, but the 3D model doesn't show, please contact toi@bk.tudelft.nl.

I can't manage to install the plugin (Windows)
It's likely you don't have the privileges to install the required software on your computer. Please contact your ICT support.

Mozilla Firefox Crashes
We discovered a problem with Firefox and the Virtools plugin. In many cases Firefox crashes completely when a new window or Tab is openend when a Virtools object is (or was) displayed. We contacted the Firefox developers about this problem. No solution yet, unfortunately.

Is Linux supported?
Virtools isn't supported on Linux (yet). Only Windows and Mac OSX are currently supported.
